#1 Spot on Yahoo

Not Overture exclusive anymore...

I was just told by Overture that the #1 spot on Yahoo can be bought directly from Yahoo, without having to bid on Overture. This means that if you are bidding to be #1, you may actually be #2 on Yahoo, even though Overture says you're #1. I verified it with one of my terms (that's how I found out actually...).

Has anyone received a formal announcement from Overture regarding this?

Wow, now that is interesting. Is the link mixed in with the Overture ones, or is it all by itself?

Similar in some ways to what MSN has been doing for a while, by selling in house, the ROI is much better.

They still have a sales team after all - and those folks will need something to sell. :)

Interesting indeed - is it PPC?
If Y! has it on sale they surely have contacted some folks here about it?

hahah thats what ive been saying all along ;)
when i spoke with A yahoo rep a while back they told me they already were running campains for #1 position for specific keywords that were in the tests.

Now question is, did they change this systemwide for all keywords or is it still specific industry keywords? Example keyword from anyone able to prove this via stickymail so I can see :)

Jeremy, the link is mixed in with the Overture ones, it's the first "Sponsored Listing".

don't you just buy enhanced listing in the directory? [ecom.yahoo.com...] or
[public.yahoo.com...]
