Is this Legal ?

The way Yahoo sets up the directory in my category Brand names are relagated to their own catagory. Multi brand sites get put into a more generic directory (so brand searches only yield the Brands company site).
I find this morning a competitor who has gotten a different domain name into a regional category that on that brand search defaults to only them. They have a very clear link to their main domain where you then go and purchase.
Is this Legal ?
Do regional results show up in searches every where or just in that region ?

I experience both on a daily basis and it confounds me. No on has ever explained why it works the way it works. You can get regional showing up in main if there is not many listings in that category. Other times you can't get it to show up at all. I've asked Yahoo to clarify.

You know, I am fairly good at ontology and taxonomy, but their structure in this regard baffles me!

It makes no sense to me to make a subcat if there are not at least 10 or so listings with which to populate it with.

As to the structure I had just figured that if your the manufacturer you get the default position by yourself.

However what I am trying to understand is if I have a multi vendor site listed in the general directory section. I have to get brand name search results from yahoogle.

So to get around that I create a new domain "my-brand.com" and pay for a new reginal category with the site name being "mybrand" the search results for "mybrand" will default to my new domain.

Now this new domain has pictures of product and vendor graphics. But if you want to buy something I link it back to my main domain in the general directory.

This is what my competitor has done. If this is legal I can play this game also. If not how do you cry FOUL?
