Knowing that we are a large commercial site and would need to pay the $299 fee, how would you recommend managing the Yahoo! submission process? Does the process require us to pick one category or subcategory, submit our site, pay the fee, and hope for the best? We sell products across a number of sub cats (i.e. Hard Drives, Optical, Monitors), so would that require a $299 fee for each? If we only want to (or are only allowed to) submit for one, should we only go as deep as the level that covers most of our products (i.e. Computers/Hardware)?
Never having submitted to Yahoo!, I'm not sure where to begin and what my options are. Anyone have a quick A-B-C tutorial they can offer? Thanks for the help!
Check the category that your site would be listed in, how many sites are listed, and the keyword - if there are few sites in the category and the keyword isn't too competitive, that would be a good category. This means you will get a PR boost, people may visit your site through category searching, or they may click on the category from the arrow in the web pages results and visit your site because it's at the top of the list or there are few sites in the category.
I don't think you'll be able to pay for multiple listings; there are exceptions, but generally this doesn't fly with Yahoo. Usually, the higher up you can get in the hierarchy, the better.
