Just thought I'd let everyone know (in case you haven't gotten one yourself) that several of my clients have received an email from directorylistings.biz.

The overall message is that the recipient needs to pay £199 for have his/her site reviewed again. The email doesn't exactly say they represent Yahoo but it does strongly suggest that unless the recipient pays for another review the site will be removed from the directory (it says Listings Directory but the average reader is going to assume it means Yahoo as the whole rest of the email is about Yahoo listings).

It gives a London number that the recipient can use to request an order form. I have sent the email on to Yahoo UK Support.

I dont' think this could be Yahoo, as they have *no* reason to use someone else's name.

however, it might seem like someone else is wanting to make some money using Yahoo's identity.

That is the same outfit that sends out fake invoices for SEO I believe.

Thanks for sharing that Teresha, it's good to let people know so they don't fall for it.

There's a bit in The Register about it [theregister.co.uk...]

If there's an unscrupulous way to squeeze $50 bucks, there'll be at least a thousand folks trying to do it.

You really have to read the fine print on a lot of this stuff you get in the mail.

I got an e-mail from Yahoo! this morning warning me of these scams.
