bottom line on Yahoo sponsored sites

I have read the posts about Yahoo sponsored listings, but I would like to know if I got the jist of the deal. You pay $15-$300 for being in the little box. Depending on the popularity of the category is how often you get rotated. If I am wrong please let me know so I can get it straight.

Oh! Is it worth your while if you pay for Yahoo sponsored listings if you have an obscure business like bobs-widgets.com, my guess is that you will not be as heavly rotated as e-commerce sites.

Depending on how many clicks a category gets, one of two things will happen:
* You'll have to pay $15-300 through their automated processing service. For these categories, they accept a maximum of 20 sites, and 5 get rotated into the box at the top.
* You'll have to contact a representative and they'll give you the price of the category. These can range anywhere between $300 and $10,000 (it's the highest I've heard so far). You sign a contract, but i'm not sure for how long that is (I believe it's a minimun of 3 months).
Right now, it's still a charter program and they're still testing and readjusting things.
If the keyword is somewhat obscure, it may be worth it because it will most likely be relatively inexpensive. If so, the exposure that you get from being at the top, especially if you do not appear in the first page of the search results, will be worth it (in my opinion).

Thank you. I was just thinking that the most competive kw's would most likely be tough to see much business, but the obscure would have a better return.

Does anyone know if this is a short lived idea of Yahoos or is it going to be the next best thing since sliced bread. I just dont want to recomend this to someone if it is not going to bring them the business they would expect for the $$$ they would pay. Thanks in advance.

I think this is going to be around to stay. They seem to have recieved an overwhelming response, and people are flocking to them beginning to have their sites sponsored (especially in the more competitive category).
So I'd suggest keeping an eye on this for your keywords. Just keep in mind that this program is going to be constantly evaluated and adjusted as they monitor its forte's and weaknesses.

Yahoo is rotating the popular kws how often do they stay at the top of the list eg. 1 day, hour or on an individual status. For example if I type "shoes" and someone types the same thing will I get the same response as you or a different response.
