Discrepancies between Yahoo Search and Advanced Search?

Some odd discrepancies between Web Match results for Yahoo’s “Regular” Search (i.e., from the Yahoo home page) and Advanced Search.

For the same keyword, e.g., furniture:

Regular Search: [search.yahoo.com...]
11.1M Search Results

Advanced Search: [search.yahoo.com...]
11.8M Results

Oddities:
1) Number of results are different
2) First 20 results are different
3) Click to page two of Regular Search results – the number of results jump from 11.1M to 11.8M and results 21 and above exactly match Advanced Search.

Because of this phenomenon (particularly #3) several top 20 Advanced Search listings don't show up in a “Regular” Search.

Thoughts?

I checked it out and saw the same discrepancies as you. It seems that the advanced match is an exact replica of Google serps and the regular has some extra stuff. I matched it to inktomi but didn't find anything definitive.

Any ideas why this could be happening? I hadn't seen this before and have to do more research.

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide. I've able to find answers to most any question I've had at WebmasterWorld, but this one has me stumped.

What is most odd is that page 1 of Regular search has a unique set of results 1-20.

Click to page 2 of the Regular search results and you're back to and exact match of Google SERPS, 21 - 11.8M.

A little disconcerting, as it means a top 20 Google result is never shown in Yahoo's regular search.

Issue is gone - results are now consistent across searches.

I've been seeing a lot of posts on changes occurring at Yahoo. Maybe we caught them mid-change.
