Mine was a paid submission.
I'd tried 4 times and had been rejected. Laisha got it on her first try.
Webmaster hero of the month award for service above and beyond the call of duty. Thank you Laisha.
I came back here to post a timeline on exactly that submission and found that you'd posted about it! :) Thank you, Brett. You're gonna make me cry!
The timeline, for anyone interested, is not an unusual one. It's a little slower than the BizExpress one:
Submitted - 1/31
Notification of Acceptance - 2/9
Appeared on What's New Page (also retrievable via the search feature) - 2/10
Shows in cat - 2/14
Submitted on Monday - Rejected on Wednesday - we appealed that same day - Received Email today - Hasn't appeared yet (usually it takes 24 hours).
This case was an anomaly because we usually get listed on the first attempt. But I found it interesting because it added the whole appeal perspective.
So, my suggestion: if you use BizEx and your site gets rejected, try to appeal. We've been pretty successful with this in the past.
Congrats Laisha!
I have *never* received word back from them except when using biz express. And even then, they did not read my appeal, but sent me a standard form email.
Honestly, I don't think they have the time. They get so many emails every day they are just swamped. Keep trying...someday your email will get to the top.

Of course, I've never been known to refuse the charity of others... ;-)
>>>I get acceptance email for free submissions about 75% of the time. <<<
OMG, jaw drops to the floor. 75% of the time on FREE submissions? What is the secret to that? What kind of time period from submission to listing?
I submitted a site for well over a year every month to six weeks or so. I never ever heard anything, and got no replies to inquiries. Just the other day, I broke down and went with the biz express, and it was listed in two days, with no probs, and no modification to the title or description. Apparently everything was A-OK it just took 200 bucks to get someone to look at it.
Are you submitting, killer informational sites like WMW, non profits, or something that YAHOO sees a need to pay more attention to? I'm absolutley amazed at a 75% success rate on Free submission.
Should I remain patient or email them now?
Your thoughts appreciated.
Cheers
Steve
Like ODP, Yahoo editors leave a trace in your logs when they visit. If an editor visits and then your site doesn't get listed you are doing something wrong- improve the site and resubmit.
If your site isn't visited within four weeks resubmit. If this persists, time to dig into your pockets.
I'm cute? :)
Actually, I don't know the secret. I didn't realize that it was that uncommon.
>I submitted a site for well over a year every month to six weeks or so.
I never submit more than 3 times. After that, it's Plan B.
>Are you submitting, killer informational sites like WMW, non profits, or something that YAHOO sees a need to pay more attention to?
All my clients have killer information. If they don't when they come to me, they do before we submit. It's the key to ranking.
I also approach all submissions and communications from the POV of an editor, who would be looking for benefits to their consumers.
