What is that?
I just wanted to submit a few sites, but paying $299 just so they can look at them and turn me down without a refund - crazy.
Did I get this right?
How do people submit commercial sites and what are the chances of not being included after your've paid 3 bills a piece?

The only way to get a commercial site listed is to pay.

Unless your site is a real disaster, it will probably be added. Y! is in business to make money. No one would pay for review if their chances were not good.
>insane... or is it just me?
Yes, it is insane. But that's how it is.
It's a nice site, but I resell for a large distributor.
I was stuck in some crapy category in ODP as an affiliate, so I'm afraid the same would happen with Yahoo.
In the best case, they would just stick me somewhere under that company's MLM alphabetical tree, which basically means no PR and no visitors.
So out of two benifits - I would get none.
After cooling down, I re-read the e-mail and at the bottom, the person who reviewed my site included some very helpful tips about a couple of improvements.
The problem was that when I named my pictures, about 5 had names that included spaces and were shown as broken images in Netscape. (as you can see, I have no formal web training)
I resubmitted and within two days I had been accepted thanks to an editor who took the time to help me with a problem I didn't know I had. In the long run, it was well worth the investment.

I am not recommending yahoo business including to most of my clients any more , just in rare cases I do.

Well, I'm getting about 1.5k referrals per day from google and friends and it will probaly increase with the next update.
I want to get in yahoo and inktomi simply because there is not much more I can squeeze from google at this time :)
Does not mean I'm going to stop, but I might as well get included in y and i.
I did not have to pay for them to review the site a second time. In the e-mail they sent me that told me I was not accepted, it gave me a certain number of days (I don't remember exactly the time frame) to correct my problems and re-submit.
Yahoo was well worth the time and expense.
