Yahoo's policy on listing in more than one category

Curious thing happened. I was placed in one category and I appealed, then they placed my listing in both a new category AND kept it in the original. Maybe a mistake, but it got me thinking, what is yahoo's policy on this? Can they/will they list you in say two relevant categories if it is warranted? How do you go about asking?

We have a site in the directory. We built another, similar-looking site for a targeted niche. for example, the original site was widgetsforyou.com and the niche site was flyingwidgetsforyou.com. They took the $299 and said <paraphrased> "nope, flyingwidgetsforyou.com is linked from widgetsforyou.com, we consider that to be already in the directory".

So be careful to make it look different and unique enough.

thanks, i guess i mean will Yahoo list a single submission in more than one location, knowing it is one submission but feeling two categories are more appropriate than one. Kind of what dmoz says, that you *might* be allowed the same listing in more than one cat.

I believe the answer is no, they will not include it twice.

It does indeed happen on occasion, but is entirely dependent upon the editor's discretion.

There are many multiple deeplinks in the Yahoo directory. There are instances where the exact page is listed more than once (and not in a regional category either).

This practice used to be fairly common in the old days. I recall the form having an "alternate category" box or similar, and if you chose well, you might get a couple of listings PLUS a regional...

I think it's mostly a moot point now - until Yahoo figures out how to display its directory, the number of listings won't make much difference.

sorry, i think i was a bit confused.

You know the little alphabetical bar at the top of a top-level category?

Well i was listed under the letter 'S' and also in the subcategory under the top-level category.

I think, but not sure, this is actually one category because the alphabetical bar just is a index of all the sites under the category.

Is this correct?
