Submitted, Approved... Still Not Listed?

How do I contact Yahoo in this situation?

About a month ago, a friend and I submitted a site to Yahoo (as we've done without a hitch several times before). The site was approved, credit card charged, and we received the typical confirmation email saying that the site would be listed in 2-4 days, etc...

However, the site has still yet to appear anywhere in the directory. We've tried replying to the confirmation email (per its instructions), writing to a couple of email addresses found on the Help portion of the Yahoo Express site... but we're caught in an endless loop of form responses.

Anyone have an address or better means of contacting Yahoo about this sort of matter? We're getting frustrated and are very hesitant to submit additional sites until this headache is resolved.

I had this happen a couple times. I was able to reply to the confirmation email and get a response fairly quickly and the problem was resolved.

You might want search for the domain and make sure you check the directory search results, not the web page results.

Thanks, DrCool.

Replies to the confirmation email have (so far) yielded only form-letter responses. I checked the directory search results, but our site doesn't come up. It does come up via the web search, however, since the site is indexed in Google -- but it doesn't have the "More sites about:" link (pointing to its directory category) that sites listed in the directory typically have.

I had that happen before too. I used to submit 4 sites per month. And then around August or September I noticed yahoo started takin forever to include my sites in the directory. And then wouldn't you know it - the big change hit. Interesting.

Normally, I've had sites listed in the directories well before they came up in the search.
Is it a US site? If not, they appear to only list in the regional directories now, if my last listing is anything to go by!

Hey csaccheri, welcome to WebmasterWorld!

Sometimes it takes a long time for the site to be listed and found by typing the domain name.

I'd give it 5-7 days. If it's still not in by then, then you should try emailing the editor that accepted your site - usually they answer directly and you wouldn't get a form email.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks, 2_Much.

At this point, it's been over a month since we received the "approval" email and -- despite repeated attempts to contact the editor -- the site still doesn't appear in the directory. This is probably the 10th site we've submitted in the past six months and the rest have all been listed (usually within a week of being approved) without a hitch.

I guess we'll just keep emailing (and looking for other ways of contacting Yahoo) and see what happens. In the meantime, though, we'll definitely hold off on submitting any more sites.

Yeah that sounds like a glitch, if it's been over a month.

Since you've submitted other sites, maybe you can take one of those emails and write to those editors with your situation? Explaining all the detail - you paid, got accepted but your site's not yet listed, and the original editor isn't replying.

Just a suggestion.

csaccheri,

I submitted a site to Yahoo on 10/28 and was added on 11/3. This was about 7 days, which is a little longer than what I have seen in the past (about 3 days); but I am content...

I would just keep at it and email Yahoo multiple times daily. I hate taking the squeaky wheel approach, but sometimes it is just plain necessary. Good Luck...

Thanks for the suggestions. We'll keep emailing and, hopefully, we'll get through one of these days. I'll post again once (if?) we have a breakthrough!

A happy ending! After numerous emails, the site finally appeared in the Yahoo directory this weekend. Better late than never, eh?

Thanks for the help and support!
