Quickly noticed how it changes the ads to well targeted ones almost immidiately with some sites.
Have been asking Adsense to do the same for almost 3 yrs to solve occasional poor targeting with no success buy Yahoo offers it first. Thanks again.
Has anyone using Adsense been permitted to use category based Ad Targeting too? G has offered it for a few yrs but only to a pre-selected small number of publishers. Its unfortunate G does not offer it to everyone.
I don't see why we need to do this when there is plenty of content on the page. I never needed to do this for google.
Ad targeting would also be great for Adsense too. An actual recent real-time example from one of our sites: A website with good multi-page relevant content all about lung disease, its prevention and treatment, etc.
The fact many people die from the serious lung condition is only briefly mentioned a few times in the website. Nevertheless G wrongly and strangely thinks the site is all about dying, thus all the Ads are about death and how to search death records. Those ads are worthless and have near 0% CTR. In fact, even after the word death and die was deleted form the site the ads were still targeted toward death and death records by G!
With the kind of Ad Targeting YPN offers we could have kept it at G by changing to health or medical targeting instead of moving it to YPN as we ended up doing.
P.S. Surprised the subject of YPN Ad Targeting has not been a more popular thread? It it possible not all publishers have Ad Taregting enabled by YPN? Who here does or not?

Ad Targeting is a great feature within YPN, it essentially enables publishers to identify the ad categories that may perform best on their sites.
As I'm sure you've heard by now, we launched the YPN Blog recently. Ad Targeting will soon be a topic we post about, be sure to check it out.

what is "new" about it? afaik, ypn ad targeting has been around for awhile.
i have found that it works really well in some sectors, but not so well in others, so ymmv... but overall, it's one of the big advantages to using ypn over adsense on certain pages.
the problem with google is that they think they know more about your traffic than you do, so they don't give you any control over the advertisers... ypn ad targeting lets you experiment with ad channels that are relevant to your content, which gives you ads that would never show up with adsense.
I took a close look at my meta keyword tag for that page and decided to get rid of all the keywords that were possibly confusing YPN.
After about 15 minutes, all ads were targeted... Is this too good to be true? I'm going to try it on other pages and tell report back here.
