Publisher broken?

Stats have nosedived

Publisher is under-reporting impressions and clicks by about 40% for the last two days. Our earnings have dropped about 60%. Anybody else seeing this?

Ok, I'm seeing the problem now. 3 ad units on the page (12 ad spots), and only 1 ad is showing of the 12.

What the heck is going on?

YPN = Yahoo's Poor Network
Well! seem to me that all of the advertisers are now only investing in YSM rather than YPN.
I also can see almost NO Ads on MOST of the pages and i'm sure that all are very low paying as earnings are almost gone DEAD.

Ads have been slow to load the last two days and today they are gone. Is this the end?

Yeah, we're down 90% now, compared to last Saturday. Must be the end, or else Yahoo has lost alot of money the last four days!

We're removing YPN and replacing it with AdSense now to salvage some revenue until (if/when?) YPN get its act together. A note in our account letting us know what is going on would be nice. Are listening, YPN?

Yeah, my earnings have been down the past couple of days too and I was also getting only one ad showing up in each of my ad units instead of 4 and today ads aren't showing up at all I logged in to my YPN account and everything looks fine there's not even a message explaining what's going on. I feel a little better knowing it's not just me, there must be something wrong on Yahoo's end, and I hope they get things up and running soon this is costing people money.

I am seeing the same thing - started on wednesday where my revenue was cut in half, friday cut by 60%. then saturday it was down over 80% and ads are were not showing or only now and again. today NO ADS are showing and revenue down 99%. #*$!?

My site is displaying ads again so it looks like things are up and running but I'm still only getting one, two, or maybe three ads in each of my units instead of the complete four I guess they're still ironing out some of the kinks. I just hope everything is 100% soon and our revenue will be back to normal and that nothing like this happens again.

It's official, everything is coming down today except 1 page.

It was making average 4xx.xx / day and I held on during the down turn times in hopes to see those numbers again.

I left enough online to see a xx.xx/day revenue to watch what happened. To make a long story short...it was .49 at 11:00 today. What is that?

Glitch or not...there is no way I can wait to find out what it's going to do next.

I'd like to keep a watch on someone here who is still planning to test the program though...The calculated risk is just not our favor.

Yes, this is ridiculous. I've emailed them twice and nothing...I suppose no one is there on a Sunday? AdSense is saving our a** today; thank heavens they are a solid back-up. Does YPN really want to lose us completely? How unprofessional is this...to not even post a note in our account about what is going on?

Due to the quality of the leads generated from your sites, we have disabled the use of Ad Targeting for your account. You may continue to display contextually-matched ads that Yahoo! serves, however, the matching suggestions provided by the use of Ad Targeting will not be utilized.

What does it mean in the scheme of things?

I think I spoke to soon, ads are showing up but most of the time I'm only getting one ad in each ad unit (and it's the same ad every time), come on Yahoo get your act together.

P.S. Has anyone who has sent an email to Yahoo complaining about this received a response yet, if so post it here so we can get some real information.

Mgeyman, I got the same notice from Yahoo two months ago, and we weren't even using the Targeting feature because it never worked. Nothing for us changed; I thought it was the beginning of the end, but everything stayed status quo, so I don't think it is a big deal.

Fire, I've emailed them twice and so far heard nothing.

This is what I heard from Yahoo a little bit ago:

In response to your noted concerns regarding a decrease in ads displaying in your Yahoo! Publisher Network account in recent days, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. This was is due to a partial system outage triggered during routine maintenance. Not all publishers are affected. We are actively addressing the issue and expect improvements by next week. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience.

Should be fixed by next week! Gee, no rush.

It's back to normal now, Ads are showing up normally. Of course it also looked like things were normal Sunday night but then it went down again so I just hope Yahoo has finally stabilized things.

Today I checked to see if earnings were back to normal and unfortunately they were not, I used to get around $1.00 per click and yesterday I only got $0.44 per click but at least they finally posted a message in the account interface, here is what it said:

Subject: Network Update

"You may have noticed a decrease in impressions in your Yahoo! Publisher Network account recently. This is due to a partial outage that occurred during routine maintenance. We are actively addressing the issue and expect improvements by next week. Thanks for your patience."

So everything may look back to normal but the fact that in the message they say next week must mean they are still working on stuff and earnings will probably be less than normal until next week. It would really be great if they would reimburse publishers for all the money lost but they probably won't.

Our earnings per click are down, too. That needs to return to where it was or there is no point in staying with YPN. Our high payments per click are the only thing that makes them better than AdSense since our CTR is really sad.

On my last few days with the program, our clicks were down to less than .20 per click and the click thru rate was not so great so this was a double whammy.

We are now in stable mode with AS, we decided to remove all the YPN ads for a short time and we'll test again in a bout a week. I'm just tired of the drama with it all.

The good thing about this happening:
It caused me to re-evaluate some pages I hadn't looked at in years, site got a redesign and cleaned up some messy things that had been accumulating online.

Bad situations can be turned into good situations, you just gotta be looking for the good when you are feeling the bad:)

Yesterday my earnings were at $0.85 per click, so it looks like things are pretty much back to normal.

It appears that the targeting is much improved - this is such an important component to increase CTR as well as look appropriate on the site. Thank you, Yahoo!
