why isn't my ad targeting working

Around the first of the month I was trying to get a new template on my site switched... I renamed all my files to index-old.php etc...
I uploaded the new files and then came up with a 500 internal server error! So After a few tries with no luck I renamed all the new files to index-new.php etc... and the old files back to the original names... Since then my ads are not being targeted... I have tried to replace the codes and nothing...

The reason I ad target is because I believe that if I target something I think people would be interested in then they may check out the advertiser.. Since the ads are not being targeted I am having more ctr's but my revenue is down.. and I really seriously do believe that people are getting confused with them and think it's part of the site.. my ctr went from .01% to .07%... Yea it's great and all but like I said my revenue is down by atleast 50%!And I do think people are getting confused because of the high ctr increase...

And I would love for my revenue to get back the way it was... :)

My quetion is why isn't my ad targeting not working?
I have called them and they told me that my targeting is working...
I always thought what ever category you picked for your ad target that is what you got... not get your target ads shown when there was no contextual ads to show... I'm just stumped..
My friend has a site and is with YPN and he can set his target ads and the target ads show up only... and we could until just the other day... :(
