Just got accepted into YPN

I recieved the e-mail today. I do have a US travel site, however I live in the UK and have no US address or bank account. I was planning to contact them but wanted your feed back first please :)

Same problem for me. I can't actually sign up because it doesn't accept a Canadian province.

Same here. it looks like they are letting the international publishers in now but are sending them the same form letter via e-mail. So are we really accepted or not?

Okay, Just called them, The rep told me that it was a mistake, they sent out a few e-mails internationally by mistake and that I should ignore it.

When I asked him about the email and what to do with it he said delete it. When they launch internationally they will send out new e-mails and that this e-mail should not be considered an acceptance into the program.

Maybe they're testing the waters for the international launch. Hay wait, who's going to re-imburse me for the interntational call to the states? DOgh!

the T&C mention that a "legal representative" can sign up on behalf of the web publisher. My brother is in the states and has the reqd things like S.S. number. So can I ask him to use his address and details. However I am worried that when he sends the money to me; I will be taxed again and thus there is double taxation?

Is my understanding of legal representative complete?

whizkiddo: your brother will have to pay taxes on the $ he earns from YPN. Not paying taxes is actually one of the reasons the US might deny a greencard application etc. so he should not miss that ;)

But you could set him up like a "pass through advertising agency":
- he transfers 95% of the revenue (and you'll have to pay taxes on these 95% in your local country)
- he keeps 5% of the revenue and has to pay taxes on these 5%

When you apply for it, this is at the top of the page:

To be considered for the Yahoo! Publisher Network beta program, please enter your information below. Participants of the program must have a valid U.S. Social Security or Tax ID number, and web site content that is predominantly in English and targeted at a U.S. user base.

So by applying, you are agreeing that you have a valid SSN or tax ID number in the US... if you applied anyway, it isn't really Yahoo's fault they accepted you, because they are going off the assumption that yes, you did agree to what they had in bolded text at the top of the application page ;)

Not when I applied. I applied soooooooooooooooooo long ago I can't even remember. I applied long before anybody was ever accepted and gave them all of my international data when I applied. The decision to go only domestic U.S. was not made at that time, or at least it wasn’t public. So there.

I went to the IRS site they have something called the form W7 for non resident aliens. Can we register for the tax id using this and then sign into the yahoo published if my traffic is mostly us traffic.

I haven't looked at that specifically, but knowing quite a bit about US immigration, I would guess they would probably at least require an A# on the paperwork.

If they do, and you don't know what that is, or don't have one, I'de say it's unlikely.

I imagine it only applies to alien residents who are here working but just don't have resident status (AOS) on their temporary visa (h1b, k1, whatever). I don't really want to look it up, but I would bet they ask for an a#.

Just think though - if you came in illegally bush would have given you amnesty, and you wouldn't have to worry about it, and you'de be a US citizen with dual citizenship in your mother country in a few years.

I am in the same boat and need to know what can be done for this. Do we need to mail them saying we are not US based publishers? or just ignore the mail?
