"We are sorry to hear about the irrelevant ads you are seeing so far. We see that you are not currently using the Ad Targeting feature. This will provide you with relevant ads.
Ad Targeting is a feature of the Yahoo! Publisher Network that allows you to identify the types of ads that you believe your visitors will find most appealing."
So I tried ad targeting. I chose the closest category I coudl target. Well the ads changed from completely generic to slighly less generic but still ads that I could not see anyone clicking on other than by accident. I tired a few other categories as well and still same untargeted ads. I emailed a reply asking if I should wait longer for their spider to come or throw in the towel. I haven't heard a reply back :)
example: if my site is about boats i get fishing rod ads just because they figure if you got a boat you might be interested in fishing rods lol ...
they said it is beta so they're still tweaking, etc.. i don't know how relevant your ads are but the example i gave above is the situation i am in.
The ads displayed by Yahoo were completely off-topic. I've tried ad targeting, but it only moderately improved relevancy. Overture's bid tool shows more than 20 bids for my targeted keywords, yet none of these ads show up on my site.
Yahoo's search engine places me on the first page of results for my targeted keywords, so they can determine the proper context of my site, I just haven't experienced it yet with YPN Ads.
So far, click through has been non-existent. I previously ran AdSense on the site and my users experienced highly relevant ads and as a result, I received double digit CTR.
Its Beta, so I'm willing to forgive for awhile, but I'm hesitant to put YPN ads on any of my medium and high traffic sites until the relevancy issues are resolved.
I did contact Yahoo, via phone, and they are aware of the issue. They were quite pleasant to deal with and the follow-up acknowledgement email sent by the agent was prompt.
Keeping my fingers and toes crossed.
To use an example: If the content of my site was about Acme toilet seats, which are found in a home, the YPN ads would be about dining room light fixtures and garage doors. It would be better if some of the ads were at least about bathrooms.
Hopefully, our collective feedback on targeting will help Yahoo to improve.

That is, I think, the point of the beta testing ;)
On the same note a week has gone by without targeted ads (only running on one page currently) I am in contact with Yahoo and while the staff is friendly I seem to have to nudge them as to why i think my ads are not targeted. Today I showed them my google ads and said "Here, Show ads like this" of which there are plenty in the overture database. Still waiting to hear back from them...
Seeing very much the same here. So far, I wouldn't even think about entrusting any more of my pages to ypn ads. Hope they can get it together or they'll have zero chance of being an adsense competitor.
