The sitemap can be read, but there are errors indicating disallowed URL,My website is built with WordPress, and the sitemap is automatically generated by the Yoast SEO plugin. Recently, the number of indexed pages has been continuously decreasing, so I decided to resubmit the sitemap. However, it shows the following error: 'The sitemap can be read, but there are errors indicating disallowed URLs.' Additionally, my page sitemap only contains 16 URLs, but Google Search Console shows that there are errors in 46 and 50 URLs. Also, Google is fetching a different website’s URLs as my sitemap, and my webpages are being identified as having automatic redirect issues. The report also shows that the canonical URLs claimed by the user are from someone else’s website, matching the URLs in the sitemap error. I’ve checked my sitemap, and it only contains my website’s URLs, and the page source code does not show any suspicious code. What could be the solution to this?

Welcome to Webmaster World.

the page source code does not show any suspicious code.

What is entered as canonical in the page source code? (

Also, are you using (and have you checked) your .htaccess file? The redirection issue suggests there might be a problem there.

I'm not familiar with WP or Yoast, but my suspicion is that there's a setting somewhere in one or other with incorrect (Default, possibly?) entries, either for page canonicals or in .htaccess, but more likely the latter.

Hi ethanxu0512 and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

In the WP/Yoast combination, errors can creep in if you are listing more than each page or post in your sitemap. This happens because the same content is shown in multiple versions within WP functionality. If you try to index each version of the content, it will cause duplicate content issues. When you are listing categories in the sitemap, it would list the same page or post in any/all categories you assigned to the page or post when it was created. Yoast lets you avoid those issues using a canonical metatag that you can assign when content is created.

There are a couple of recent discussions on this topic, with more resources that could help, in our WP forum:

Make sure your canonical URLs point to your actual site. Also, check if any plugins are causing conflicts with the Yoast SEO settings. Regenerating the sitemap after fixing those issues might help clear things up.

I have encountered similar errors with Yoast SEO plugin for many of my clients. This is a chronic problem of Yoast and in this case I always recommend installing Rank Math. If you reconfigure the sitemap and delete it in Webmaster Tools and re-upload the sitemap, the problem will be solved. You can watch the changes with pleasure afterwards.
