Alt of images used as anchor text - duplicates.

Using Woocommerce:

I have a performing arts website with multiple venues and with some shows attending various venues.

Where I have one production performing at several venues - ie 'Ghost the Musical' - should the alt of that image simply be 'Ghost the Musical' or 'Ghost the Musical at XYZ venue'?

Problem?
Where multiple productions are displayed on the 'category pages' of a venue - and 'Ghost the Musical' is used also used as the hyperlink then that anchor text for 'Ghost the Musical' will go to potentially several different URLs - does that matter?

What I hadn't noticed - was that when I edit the 'Ghost the Musical' image (for example) on one product, it automatically changes the alt text on any other products using that same image. So, I can't use 'Ghost the Musical at xyz' unless I have multiple versions of that same image (the one supplied by the production company).

Likewise, if I have a holding image of the venue - in place of a production image - the venue name will also point to different URLs.

Possible solutions?
1. It isn't a problem to have the same anchor text pointing at different URLs.
2. Use different versions of the same image (which would multiply the amount of images used by 7-10)
3. Is there a way to edit the alt of an image on one product without it affecting all others that use that same image?

Can the venue location be indicated by the title of the post or page or even a section <H#> headline? Then it could use the same alt text for the image without any venue text.

It would be more difficult to use a variety of alt text that includes a venue by using multiple copies of the same image. If the link is intended to be added to the image there should be a text header to indicate which venue is related.

Are all the listings on the same page or only shown as a thumbnail/featured image on your category pages?

I currently have the show name and the venue in the product title and have the show name in the alt text of the image.

The 'issue' has been highlighted on the venue 'category' (they are actually attributes) 'pages' where the products are listed (30-40) - currently the Product Titles (Show name and venue) AND the images are linked through to the relevant product pages.

Another option is to remove the hyperlink from the images on the venue pages - might this be the simplest and best option?

I believe the simplest solution would be to do just that. Rather than using the image for the link, use the "Show-Name at Venue" text or something similar for the link, then the image is just fine with only the show name as alt text. People who click on the text would get what they want.
