Table Goes Squirrelly in MailChimp

Necessary content may make TablePress table too wide.

I created a TablePress table for a client, and it looks great on my website demo page. Excellent plugin. However when I export the HTML to the MailChimp newsletter the table goes wonky, with header titles going out of alignment and long chemical names causing the expected wrap, but alignment is wrong.

Of course, the HTML that TablePress exports is basic table HTML an no CSS. The max width in a MailChimp newsletter is 600 px-- and that has to be the problem. Unfortunately there's no way of getting around 4 required columns and one of them contains long chemical names.

Deal killer: The Item numbers in the table MUST contain live links to a corresponding "more info" page.

Is there another plugin or app that can handle this situation? I was thinking a resized PDF exported from Excel would work nicely, but I see Excel needs an Adobe add-on to preserve live links. Then Excel exports a PDF with all the whitespace on the right and at the bottom. I seem to be continually going down a rabbit hole the more whatifs I try.

I found that Libre Office Calc will export a spreadsheet as a PDF with live links, but MailChimp won't upload a PDF.

You could always upload the .pdf file and email the link to your client. Once they have downloaded it you can remove the pdf from your site so it is not scraped. To be more proactive, you might want to create a password protected directory just to hold the pdf file until the client has it downloaded.

Thanks not2easy for your reply. From trial and error I was finally able to create a table in Libre Office Writer and saved it as HTML. MailChimp accepted the code and the resulting table looks clean and there are no alignment or linking issues.
