WordPress Now With Paid Newsletter Option

WordPress now allows users to add paid subscriptions and premium content, even on the free platform, giving users the opportunity to earn from their newsletter content.

Your readers will be able to pay for subscriptions directly from your site, with transaction fees as low as 10% of revenue on the Free plan, decreasing as you level up to our paid plans, down to a 0% fee on the Commerce plan. Payments are processed through Stripe and are available in the countries where Stripe is currently supported.

This is only available to WP.com sites hosted free on wordpress.com which otherwise cannot monetise their free sites. They know that is the reason most quality sites migrate away from their free hosting. It is good to see they are offering some incentive to content and even commerce sites, but there comes a time when a site is better off under its own management.
