Hi
I have a large hand coded html commercial profitable site, no shopping cart, a fudge to get past mobile compliance.
I have a WP developer failing miserably to give me what I asked for;
No cart (I like it that way)
Same site look as at present
True every browser compatibility
User reviews page
Auto-notification email system for users of new products by keywords
Simple one click archiving (sold items never get deleted, just archived).
Offers system and page (one click, where older items can be shown with both original and special price)
Advance enquiry form where the referring product ref is automatically included.
New item creation (2 templates for two styles / layouts of product page) with newest 5 items shown on index page
No blogs

I am pulling my hair out with the developer who says I am trying to get WP to do something it is not able to. Which is a joke, as I fully specified the project (4 pages, really detailed), so why bid on it?

Help?
Advice?

The simple answer is, Wordpress can do everything you want because it is PHP based. So everything you cannot accomplish with the default setup or available plugins can be written from scratch. But that doesn't mean it is easy to do, or is able to do within a reasonable amount of time.

What you have to do is to either adapt your expectations to the abilities of the developer, or to find a developer matching your desires. Which option to chose is your decision.

hammer is correct on his post the biggest issue you will run into is the developer creating a plugin to reach your goal.
issues you will run into if your customized plugins.
WordPress updates will break plugin or your theme
Any customized plugin could become a entry for a hacker. Pick your developer carefully.
Your customized plugins will need updates to keep above from happening so whatever you do make sure your able to get this done.
My son is working on a WP site with a customized plugin WP security update caused plugin to break developer no longer in business so be careful
