Redirect of Product permalinks - Custom Base.

Can anyone advise...

In Permalinks, there is a custom base that has been set which is great for current products... (Woocommerce)

BUT... I now want to add new products that don't fit into the 'name' of the product base
ie such as 'venues' and then wanting to sell shoes...

Question: If the custom base is either renamed or removed will the old urls automatically redirect to the new one?

Short answer: No. Longer answer: it depends on how/where these permalinks were set up. Your custom base may be a part of the WooCommerce setup or not. I would look to the documentation first if it is part of the WooCommerce options.

If it is not set in WooCommerce and is part of the WP Permalink structure, there are plugins to deal with that. If you are using Yoast Pro you can manage 301s with that. WooCommerce also offers many plugins for that task. I would vet carefully and seek a plugin if it is Permalink structure.
