I have a colleague who has 9 job boards in very niche markets and they are all good money makers for him. But he's using an old plugin to manage them from about 6 years ago and he wants the latest and greatest to operate on the Wordpress platform.

I've done my own research and all of the review claim X theme is the best.. I respect the opinion of this well seasoned bunch here on WebmasterWorld and so wanted to ask if any of you have experience with job boards and if so, which theme would you recommend for Wordpress and why?

Job boards are very niche, and I have no experience with them. That said, choosing a theme is pretty important. here are some tips:
  • Ensure the theme is not already a child theme. If it is already a child theme then you cannot make in a child theme of the child theme
  • Ensure it has a long track record, as in use for a number of years, with all the kinks worked out. Yes, new themes are pretty, but they may not work as well as its appearance
  • I prefer themes on Wordpress.org, as they are somewhat tested. Customers have been burned by themes bought 3d party that do not work as advertised
  • I also research the theme to see if there are any outstanding bugs, and the responsiveness of the developer
  • If you are aiming for an Accessibility standard, read up on this first, then choose your theme second. These standards are very rigorous and will cramp the designer's style

Choosing a theme is always difficult. There are so many.

Unfortunately, this type of discussion has a history of attracting promotional posts that are not genuinely helpful. We'll consider this a special case and as any such recommendations thread would be, it needs a few specific guidelines to keep it useful. This post was revised to allow for posting paid themes from established developers.

These are adapted from a similar thread about WordPress Plugin Recommendations [webmasterworld.com]

READ Before you post.

Thread purpose: A place to bring attention to useful themes for a jobs board.

> Please check to see if it already exists here before you post to avoid duplicates.
> Free Themes must exist in the WordPress plugin repository: [wordpress.org...]
> Link only to the theme page at WordPress for free themes.
> Paid Themes must be identified as paid themes and include price range if possible.
> Link only to the theme page at Theme Developers' sites for paid themes.
> If you're the author or developer of the theme say so - transparency is important
> Links other than specified will be deleted. Affiliate links will be deleted and may cause account suspension.

Post Format:

Title: The name of the theme
Description: Brief description of what the theme is/does, why it answers the needs for a Jobs Board site
Comments: Your thoughts on why it's a good theme to know about, and experiences with the Theme developer where appropriate.

Multiple postings or any posts that are deemed not in keeping with the spirit of this thread as a sharing resource (moderator & admin discretion) will be deleted. Please keep it to a useful list of the related themes, what it does, and why you like it.
