NextGen Gallery Jumps to top of the page

I have searched on the wordpress support forum and found two threads on this subject both of which did not resolve the problem.
I am using the basic NextGen Gallery Widget, I have not used the shutter-reloaded plugin.
I have two wordpress sites both use multiple nextgen galleries.

The problem occurs when the next or back button is clicked on and the view jumps to the top of the page meaning you have to scroll down to see the next image. I'm sure that someone else has had this problem and solved it and I would be grateful for some help with this.

I have observed this in Firefox and Opera browsers.

It looks like many other people have issues with the Gallery Widget, it has only been tested for compatibility up to WP v3.3.2. A quick look at the support forum for that plugin appears to have many issues. Their updates are coming via github forks. They suggest visiting the NextGen github Issues List [github.com] for any solutions.

You might save time (unless you use it heavily) to look for a plugin with better support.
