I hosted a blog on wordpress.com for years that I mapped using a domain that I already owned. The blog would show up in Google listings as https://example.com because I assume Wordpress.com hosts every blog on a secured server?
I am now trying to get rid of this blog and instead redirect requests from example.com to example.org.
I went to my host and added the example.com domain to my account. When I go to http://example.com it redirects fine but https://example.com goes to a dead page. Will Google eventually update it's listing to show example.com with http or will it always stay as https? My host says that I need to purchase a SSL certificate to make https://example.com that way it loads from clicks that come through Google searches. Just trying to figure out how necessary this is.
