Hello: I have a commercial word press site with an evolution theme option from Elegant Themes. The theme has a big slider at the top which I probably do not need. Also the theme is not very easy to work with if I want to Add HTML or make any changes. Would it be possible to remove the Evolution Theme and start over with something easier without a slider? Would I lose all of my content and all of my old pages? Or would there be a way to save that and restore. I hired someone else to design the site about maybe 2 years ago and I think she did a really good job. It is just now time for a possible redesign and also a theme easier to work with ? Any suggestions? -Thank you!

You can find free and paid themes in the WP Theme Directory: [wordpress.org...] and by using the *Feature Filter on the navigation bar near the top of the page you can specify the features you want, what is important to you. When you change themes, it is one button to move out the old theme and move in the new theme instantly.

It is important to know the features you are currently using to ensure that the new theme included the same features such as 'hooks' or child theme capability. The reason to work with a child theme is so your customizations don't get over-written when your chosen theme updates.

Most of the themes there offer demos to walk you through their features, and review by current users to see how pleased (or not) they are with the ease of use, etc. so you can compare them with other themes that interest you. All themes in the WP.org directory have been checked and cleared for hidden vulnerabilities.

Several of the paid themes there offer support sites as well as themes and most will help you make changes if you aren't up to it yourself.

You won't lose pages. The difference between themes as far as page speed can be huge. I use a theme some person built for his own use and it never updates.
