Most likely these are generated by a Wordpress SEO plugin, I assume? You can configure these within your control panel, usually.

Multiple sitemaps is fine (and encouraged, as it gives you greater control). These will all be linked from a sitemap index. If this is the most common plugin, then you'll likely find that the sitemaps are submitting a lot of unintended URLs (this applies almost any time you are not using Wordpress solely as a blog platform). This might include categories, tags, authors and custom content types. Review the settings and exclude anything you don't need, and then robots exclude (e.g. noindex, follow) such pages.. You might also consider disabling the sitemap functionality entirely if you don't have frequently changing content or a need to get pages indexed more quickly than they would be "naturally" encountered via links.
