Installing mutiple domains

Anyone advise?

My partner has five separate domains (quite small with maximum 100 pages each) and we want to put them all on to Wordpress.

We would probably like to add these domains as 'add-on' domains. On shared hosting.

What is the best way to set up the wordpress?

Would it be best/cleaner to have separate Wordpress installations in each of the add-on domain folders?
Or to create a multi-sit Wordpress? (not done that before)

Anyone done this before? and any help greatly appreciated.

Best would be to install a single multisite (same thing just a different config file).

Then setup subdomains (these are virtually developed). Then just redirect the domains to the appropriate subdomain.

Multisite is a superior setup and doesn't need any special insights just read the setup instructions. As easy an setting up Wordpress standalone.

Is it possible to set up the wordpress installations and work on them 'on the server' and view them 'live'? (prior to changing name servers) Or is it only possible/best to work on local site?

ps.. is it best to add them as sub-domains or add-on domains or doesn't it matter?
