Hi all, and Merry Christmas!

I have an idea for a website and want to try to build it on my own (or at least as much of it on my own as possible). I have built some of it already using Worspress (which was shockingly easy) but am now getting to the more complex bits and so I need some pointers in the right direction. I am not a web developer (and have no ambition to try to be one and so am not a competitor) and have very little knowledge of coding (I did some in uni about 15 years ago but nothing since then).

Firstly, I am very new to the terminology and so please do forgive any slips in my knowledge or ridiculous ideas.

Secondly, I am not asking anyone to do this for me (as I quite want to have a go myself) but I just need some pointers in the right direction and also whether the functions are even possible on Wordpress.

Thirdly, I am keen to complete the functions in the easiest way (even if a bit clumsy) as I would find it very difficult to write all the necessary code from scratch. However, the site will still need to look very professional.

Fourthly, I do not wish to spend a fortune on plugins as no idea whether the website idea has any legs.

I would like my site to perform the following functions:

1. I would like the first set of users (Primary Users) to be able to sign up and install certain information in a table which is then deposited in a database. I have managed to get this working using both ContactForm7 and Ninja Forms (although not sure which is best based on the following functions). Any ideas of best method?

2. I want a second set of users (Secondary Users) to be able to login and search the database for relevant Primary Users based on key words and/or drop down matches. I want the list to be displayed in a very clean and professional way. Any idea how this will work? Do I need a separate database plugin?

3. The Secondary Users will then need to be able to (a) upload bank details and (b) select Primary Users from the searched list (as if they were shopping). The selection would then trigger an automatic email to the relevant Primary Users. How should I make this work? Is mailchimp the best thing to use? Is this possible? Which payment plugin is best?

4. The email would contain an option for each relevant Primary User to approve or reject the selection by clicking a link in the email. If they approve then three things would need to happen: (1) within X days, the Primary User would need to upload a document to the site, (2) immediately upon upload, the doc would be sent to the Secondary User and (3) the Secondary User would be automatically charged a small fee.

There are numerous other issues but I think I have an idea how to deal with those.

Is all of the above possible within Wordpress? If so, can this be done with existing plugins? If so, which plugins? I assume that there will need to be some additional coding even if I can use existing plugins? If so, any idea what would need to be done and how? If this needs to be done from scratch then what is the best method for starting? I assume that some/most of this will have already been done by someone? Is it possible to locate such coding?

I would be hugely grateful for any ideas/thoughts on any of the above.

Thanks all, and best wishes for the New Year.

Jim

Sounds like an "escort" site..( or an "adult pics video" .."what would you like to see the subject do" site ) there are probably already wordpress templates with all of what you need ready to purchase "cles en main"..

It's a recruitment site. The documents are CVs (or, if you prefer, resumes). If there is already some existing theme/plugins that I can follow then please let me know. Cheers.

What you need to search for is called ..cv website script..or cv bank script..or cv resume script..( there are "standalone scripts ) but searching those will bring up wordpress all in one versions ( if you add the word wordpress to those search strings ) as well ..HTH

Thanks LG, where would it be best to search for those? Google or within WP?

Also, the site doesn't work like a normal recruitment site and so I suppose I would need to amend the script accordingly?

Sounds like an "escort" site.

Haha, my mind is cleaner than yours, I was just thinking dating site.

Unless your UK-based search engine is awfully good at translating, you may also want to try some searches using the term "resume" without "cv". (In the US, it's only called a CV in academia.)

Thanks Lucy, will do.

Any ideas on the emailing/payment functions? Will these all be covered in the resume script?

How is one able to use the script within Wordpress? Is this simply included within a page or would you need to turn that script into a plugin? Sorry - I am very new to all this.

I have found a script that will assist with the upload but not sure re the rest.
