Best settings for the wordpress plugin W3 Total Cache...

What are best practices with using the powerful Wordpress Plugin W3 Total Cache? Are there any other recommended plugins for website optimization that work well with W3 Total Cache?

As far as best practices, you should visit the developers website and their listing at wordpress.org for a guide to optimal settings of their product. Read the reviews and see if there are any mentions of problems related to compatibility with other plugins or themes.

Question for anyone who speaks WordPress, just for my future reference:

Does "Total Cache" mean what it sounds like? Something that creates cached copies of your pages to cut down on the colossal number of server calls in an ordinary WP (or similar CMS) page request? Or is that just what they want you to think and it's really something completely different?

Lucy, most of the WP caching plugins I have used actually do cache the pages to cut down on server calls. There are a myriad of settings in each that allow you to control the method of caching.
