I always, in all sites non WP and WP, used Akismet with a good deal of success.
I would like to know why most Spams seem to be originated from hotmail?
Getting your site visited is a double edge sword, on one hand if you do not market you will not get spammed, if you make it visible you attract spammers :)

Henry0, I don't think Hotmail has the corner on spam. I've had 1.5 million spam posts blocked on one of my blogs, and they are from gmail, yahoo, and lots of other free email services.

You can't worry about the relation between traffic and spam. Traffic is good; use Aksimet and other anti-spam tools to block the spam, and delete the few that make it through.

In fact, the traffic may not drive most of the spam. Spammers use all kinds of discovery tools to find Wordpress sites, even ones that don't get much traffic.

rogerd thanks, I use Akismet with a good rate of success.
We are not speaking about a great deal of Spam, but the funny thing is that I never deleted anything else, but Hotmail users from the users DB.

I do not worry about it, it's probably coincidental, nevertheless it makes me think....
