How to make the transition?

Looking to escape the confines of SS. Has anyone experience exporting a 5-yr old blog from SquareSpace and successfully imported it into WordPress?

What about a site 'ripping' tool? Does such a program exist and would it work?

I'm not familiar with SS but I think the best way to approach this is to scrape the data manually and plug it into WordPress one Post/Page at a time. Brute force, labor intensive.
