Windows 8 Developer Preview now available

Get your own copy of the Windows 8 Developer Preview directly from Microsoft here: [msdn.microsoft.com...]
I see that it requires a clean install, so you can either put it on its own machine or virtual PC. Also, I've heard that it isn't very stable yet, so I wouldn't use this as your primary OS.

Anyone tried it out yet?

I ran into a glitch when trying to install this on VMware. You'll get a HAL_INITIALIZATION_FAILED error if you're using most versions of VMware. Reportedly the beta version of VMware will handle this. I guess I'll have to wait a bit before trying this one out.

VMware just updated their Workstation product to version 8. That seemed to do the trick for me.

The Windows 8 Preview is growing on me, but I can see where some might get frustrated. Enough is different that it can throw off experienced Windows users a bit.
