SMTP mass mailing problems using ASP and local SMTP daemon / server

Is anyone aware of a server / daemon that will allow sending of a large number of mails in a batch send.

The problem I am having is that many servers only allow between 500 - 999 smtp messages to be spooled. The application I am developing is for a web based utility that automatically sends newsletters to a very large number of users in an internal network.

If anyone has any ideas about the software I should use, or even a way of stalling an ASP application to send batches of mail so as not to override the server this would be of great use.

This will probably be of little help but... there's a Windows app here [electrasoft.com] that could be of use to you. From the ad copy, "If your SMTP server limits the speed and/or number of emails per session, this new version has a workaround for you." Apparently it can operate multi-threaded sending up to 32 emails simultaneously (a spammer's dream come true!)

Here's hoping someone can offer additional ideas!
