I have the opportunity to maintain a somewhat large real estate company's Web site. Up until this point, I haven't had to deal with finding a hosting service that caters to the big boys. Would a dedicated server be the way to go?
What kind of sites use 35GB traffic/month -- What kind of sites would be using 200GB?
I've read some other posts, but they haven't quite answered my questions...
Are there any good online resources that are available to make my head a bit more savvy on this subject?
Thanks for all your help...
The sites I have seen that use more then 30GB have been warez, MP3, and ***.
Personally, I have a site that used around 400GB a month, but I am doing lots of research. The actual webpage traffic is small almost all the traffic is my programs in the background researching and crawling.
Most people don't have good websites or good traffic.
--Cool. I understand, but I know that this company depends on their site. It is mission critical if you will. I want to make sure I have enough bandwidth and disk space to support both their site and a few others -- while not buying so much space that it is never used.
I'm assuming it would be impossible to have ya guess at what is going on with this site, but possibly I could get some opinion as to what I should find out about the existing specs to make this decision.
Monthly Data Transfer
# of daily page views
# of daily hits
????
Any advice would be superb.

If the site has been up and running, which I assume from above, look at the monthly stats/logs that allready exist. Look at the bandwidth portion of the report.
I know with my host they will notify me when bandwidth has been exceeded. They keep the flow going and I call sales to get setup with a higher allotment.
