Problem with opening .css and .txt files

I'd like to open them in my browser

Sometimes I'll edit those from the control panel, and I might want to access them from the web to look at them, not having the latest on my hard drive.

I'd love them to open in the browser, which I think they used to. Now, they "download" and open in Notepad, and instead of being line by line, they're all run together with little black spots mixed in - impossible to decipher and unusable.

What settings will it take to get robots.txt and .css files to open in the browser from my sites rather than the mess I'm getting in Notepad?

If you open the robots.txt file in wordpad or MS Word those little black dots are replaced with <br>'s

I use IE5, Mac - Win98.

Thanks justa, good to know. Just to take a quick look on line, it would nice in the browser though.
