iis help

i need some help to set up web site.

I have set up IIS 5.0 and it is working fine, but i do not know how can i link it to another page.
example if i want to link it to movies.html. it shows me c:/intpub/wwwroot/movies.html in my web browser when it should show. www.domain.com/movies.html i want to know how can i save the html and where can i save them so it is not showing the whole path to my computer's c: drive. one example www.webmasterworld.com/ipost i want it to show like that. Please let me know how can i do that. thank you.

Difficult to say what exactly the problem might be, but it sounds like you are using the file system to browse your home page (eg openning from Windows Explorer) and then, as your links are relational, they follow suit.

Ensure that when you look at your homepage the address bar shows: www.domain.com, www.domain.com/default.html or whatever your hompage is, and then your links should work correctly. If you are sat at the server (which it sounds like you are) try typing 'localhost' into the address bar of the browser in place of 'www.domain.com'.

If this doen't work check that IIS is running, your site is not 'stopped', and that your site is configured to point at the correct physical file location, although it sounds like you are just using the default settings so this should be ok.

does the domain work as a URL on it's own, I mean does www.domain.com work without the /movies.html bit?

If so what error (if any)appears when typing in www.domain.com/movies.html?

thank you for writting. it is working fine if i type [localhost....] i wanted to know if you can tell me where to save all the HTML files. i saved it in wwwroot folder. I am using Ms frontpage and i did put links on the index.html. i have changed the document tab in the property. I use frontpage to put link on the index.html and it will show the whole path. when i click on it on that server it will work and it will not work from another computer. I think is there any folder, where i should put all HTML files. When i type www.indianhitmovies.com in the broweser. it shows me index page, when i click on it. it will not show any thing. when it should show www.indianhitmovies.com/hindimovies.html Please let me know how can i fix that problem THANK YOU.

I'm getting the following error on both the homepage and the hindimovies.html page:

'You are not authorized to view this page
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials you supplied.'

I would guess that this is something to do with the permissions set on the directories (either in NT or IIS).

I'm not really sure what to suggest, anyone else got any ideas?

Ensure the INETUSR account of that machine has permission to read and execute the document.

i wanted to know if you can tell me where to save all the HTML files. i saved it in wwwroot folder.

Go into IIS console. Right click on web name in question. Go to properrties. On the tab "home directory" it will have "local path". This will show you the path to the folder with your files.

To browse out to the files I believe that it should be [ip...] address. You can find the IP address from "web site" tab and under I.P address it will show you the bound IP.
