Sparc 10 melting down

Sun Ultra 2 ??

The old Sparc 10 just ain't handling the load (a good problem, but a problem just the same) and the dedicated server guys are talking Sun Ultra 2. I've purposely stayed away from having to deal with the box, but I figured I'd better ask here if there is anything I need to tell them I must have, such as minimum cpu horsepower?

Hard to say without knowing the kind of load you are going to be putting on it. If you are all alone on that box, I can't see as how you are going max out a default Ultra 2 [sun.com]. I know you can do some heavy traffic at times, but even a baby 2 should be able to handle yours with ease.

That's what the techs are saying, that it'll handle roughly 10 times my current load -but my traffic goes up by a factor of 5 or 6 between now and July. I'm just checking behind them, mainly to see if I should be flogging them for more goodies while we're moving up.
