Does anyone know of a free software program that can tell what someone's I.P. number is when you are in a chat room ?????????

Depends where you are chatting. Lots of chat rooms hide ip addresses to protect people from getting nuked.

If you are chatting on IRC(Internet Relay Chat), you can type /whois nickname, and the person's host or ip will show up. Although, some networks 'change' the host a little bit so that people won't get nuked.

Trillian seems to show IPs for IMs like ICQ...it may show others as well.
