Has anyone ever installed two nic cards in a WinNT 4.0 Web Server, with the first card binded just to TCP/IP and the second card binded just to NetBEUI. The first card being patched to an outside port(port designated outside of the firewall) and the second card patched to an inside port(port designated inside of the firewall).

If you did do something similar to this, how well did it work?

Did the sys admin's go through the roof?

Did you need to neuter any of the nt services so that someone couldn't hack the box and access the internal network?

Our sys admins might get a little edgy if I propose this so I would like to be able to say that I can neuter windows so it will be protected.

The reason I want to do this is I want to install SQL server on a inside server so that my inside development and outside production servers can use the same database or at least the same database server, and so the database is protected behind the firewall.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld jquerin! We're not ignoring you, I swear! Your question is pretty specific and most of our regulars are not overly familiar with M$ servers.

If you haven't done so already, asking your question in a more M$ focused forum will probably be more productive for you. I've found the forums at [ntfaq.com...] pretty helpful, you may want to check them out, just don't forget to come back!! ;)
