Host service moving to new site

IP's will be changing ... what is the impact?

My site's host service company is merging with another and preparing to move my site to new servers in a different city.

Talking to them, they said my IP address will change in the process.

Can anyone tell me if there are pitfalls I should be looking out for as this transition proceeds.

For instance, will it affect any of my search engine rankings?

I moved a PR 6 site from one ISP to another just recently. I have not noticed any adverse affects. Googlebot still comes almost daily to check out stuff...

edit: That Preview button is in the wrong place... Every time I go to submit, I hit it first...

I upgraded service for one site some time ago which entailed changing IP even though I stayed with the same host. No problems whatsoever. No interuption in either visitors or spiders.

I have found that changing ip's will have little effect. Sometimes it will trigger a full crawl of the site.

There shouldn't be any pitfall since you're ranked as domain address, not IP.
So far from my experiences, that is not a problem. However, please come back and let us know the result. :D
