Website and domain forwarding

Hi all,
I am having problems setting up a situation that i have never tried before, i have a company hosting my domain as they have good DNS options, and another hosting the web space.

I need to direct the domain that is hosted on Godaddy to the web space hosted on 1&1.

Seems simple, but here are the problems i encounter.
Domain forward - this then shows the web space site address and isnt what i want.
Domain forward masking - shows the correct domain, but if i install something like a php forum etc. it doesnt work, seems to get confused with the paths.

Is there a simple way that i am not aware of for hosting a domain on one provider and forwarding to another web space?

Try changing the name servers, it is usually simpler.

If i change the name servers, does this not mean that the webhost then has control over all DNS settings?
As the problem i have is the web host dont allow me to add custom dns records. This is howcomes i have ended up with my domain moved away to a provider that does.

welcome to WebmasterWorld, davidmansfield81!

you may be confusing some functions.
your domain registrar is where you register your domain, provide contact info, and specify your domain name servers.
your DNS provider hosts your authoritative zone files which translate hostnames on your domain to IP addresses.
your web hosting provider hosts the server and resources for your web site.
while godaddy and 1&1 provide all these services and more, you should ideally have these functions hosted autonomously.

try putting the 1&1 website IP address in the godaddy dns records.
