Hello all,

I have just got an SEO assignment for a 4 yrs old website. It's got PR in home as well as inner pages. Also some pages are appearing in Google Search Results for targeted keywords.

Now the problem is I have to make all inner page urls seo friendly. At this moment page urls look like domain.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=6:products-repair&catid=4:demo-category&Itemid=12.

My question is,
Is it possible to change the urls keeping the PageRank and Ranking as it is for all the pages?

I shall be thankful if you add your valuable comments on the same.

Change the CMS so that it links to the friendly URLs.

Redirect requests for the old URLs to the new URLs. This will retain traffic following old links and preserve much of the pagerank.

Since you're talking about Joomla, look for specific add-ons that have this capability.

Both changing the links on the pages and redirecting requests for the old URLs to the new URLs are crucial. You must do BOTH of these things.
