I have only used a Mysql database once, which was setup automatically by the CMS I was using. I simply needed to make up user names, etc.

But now, I'm looking for a new hosting company, and the one I have in mind allows only one Mysql database up to 50MB capacity. Other hosts offer 3-5 databases per Website domain.

I'm not very familiar with Mysql capabilities.

Is it common to set up many different/seperate websites with different CMS packages, all running from one Mysql database?

It is a HSphere CP and seems to work well with Mysql in so far as apparently you can host the database on a different server to the Webserver.

Hi Keno

I would recommend selecting a hosting package with more than one MySQL database. It's pretty cheap if you shop around. Yes, you are right, you can outsource MySQL needs to a different service - but why complicate things?

It gives you room to expand or to try out different ideas as your site develops.

I don't know, I lease a server and use only one database for everything that needs it but then I don't have a limit on size (50Mb), and that part would bother me.
How much some apps use depends on the app... Some may hardly use a few kilobytes, others, who knows?

Looks like this host may constrain future growth or capabilities for me, and I have done further research and found more options.

Thanks for valuable perspectives above.
