I am looking for information about webcasting technology. Have done some preliminary searches, but am wondering if anyone here can direct me to some good sources.

We will probably end up contracting this one out, but I need to educate myself enough to be able to ask the right questions of potential vendors. I want to be an informed buyer :)

Sticky me if necessary.

Thanks,

WBF

I am going to bump this one in hopes of a response.

We have an upcoming project that forces me to get some education. I expect
this will be contracted out, but I need to be an informed consumer before I
go looking for vendors.

The project we face is bigger than a home based webcast, though not huge.
Preliminary plans call for a live component with as many as 4000
simultaneous streams, and an archived version (30-90 days probably) that
would be accessed by as many as 10k users.

Besides needing some background on pre-production needs, I also need to find
out about what to look for in vendors providing the actual recording,
bandwidth needs (upstream and downstream), hardware and software for a
commercial production, server needs and configurations, potential problem
areas, reasonable costs, etc.

Any advice?
