Anyone have some basic SEO rules for CMS

I want to provide some basic guidelines on content management optimisation for search engines... anybody have any good resources or tips?

The obvious ones I can think of are things like:

Ensure template is designed with clean code structure, content high up, easy to follow link architecture.

Make sure you have unique Titles and descriptions for each page based on page content (not sure how to explain this to a client in a language they understand)
