I currently use the service of xdrive to backup my files out of my desktop computers. The current hosting company does not allow me to use my hosting space to backup, but that's not a problem.
The problem is that xdrive, eventhough, it seems to be the most famous it is very unreliable.
It connects some times, some others does not.
While I'm running a copy, sometimes it does not work returning network errors.
I have tested through two different ISPs and it seems the problem is in their side anyway.
Is there any other alternative to do this?
I just want to have all my sources and project files in a safe place outside my home-office.

I know you mentioned you wanted your files stored away from the office, but would a backup server be of any use.

At home I have a windows XP computer. What I do is FTP the contents of my documents folders to a linux server. In terms of cost, you can build a linux server very cheaply, possibly even by using your old components, think of it as recycling.

As well as providing a backup solution, it is also very usefull of you get a new system, all you need to do is copy paste your existing documents to the new location.

It may be something that you feel is worthwhile.
