I am getting ready to change the name of one of my sites, and it has about 100,000 memebers, So I want to send a one time email to all of them to notify them of the change. Does any one have a recommendation on how to do this? Are there companies that I can send the list to and they will do it? Is it reasonable to try and do it from a standard cable connection on my computer using some application?

Not from your own box!..your home ISP will likely ban you in 24 hrs ..

nor from your domain the same reasons ..

There are some mass mailer progs that you could use ..the hard part if you do it yourself is finding someone to let you use their IP to do it from ..

maybe your hoster could set you up aone time IP outside the usual block allocated to them and you could post from there ..or maybe just searching for "mass email hosting"..

I just did ..brought up over 9 million entries on g ..must be someone in there you can deal with

I have been looking into newsletter email solutions. If you do a search for "newsletter software" on GG, you will find numerous software and services for managing a email newsletter. It looks like I can purchase my own email newletter software for about $180 - $400. Online services range form about $10/month plus a bulk charge on the number of emails sent.

Most of the softwares seem to support double opt-in, and automatic email removal tools.

I happen like the idea of having control of my email addresses. I am approaching my newletter email campaign with a white hat on, and plan to only send to verified opt-in subscribers.

What are the cons of using a purchased software solution?
