I recently bought a VPS, my vps provider is saying that the domain should be registered from godaddy, because only they provide the facility to create primary nameserver. He says that they have to do DNS entries to server and only godaddy allow these DNS entries. My all domains are registered through directi. I want to know whether directi allow to create primary nameserver or not.

Drill down to your domain name until under Domain Registration - you see a button called Manage Child Name Server. Click on that, enter your A record and the IP address of your Name server.

Make sure to also create A records in your DNS (on your server)

Thankyou for your reply, please tell what is the difference between child nameserver and primary nameserver. Because my VPS provider says that We do not need child nameservers. we do not need DNS entries on second level like ns.domain.com pointed to the ns.maindomain.com We need main nameserver making facility like ns.maindomain.com

As far as I know, there is no difference. Directi just names them something different to differentiate between their DNS management system
