1) I cannot send email to clients from server where my company site is located. When mail is sent it is returned days later as undeliverable.
2) If clients send me email, I always receive it.
I spoke with both hosting companies and both deny responsibilty. I want to know what utility I can use to find out who is at fault. For whatever reason, one of the companies is blocking the other. I suspect the following issue:
All the sites I am attempting to send email to from my company domain, were at one time located on the same server as my company domain. I have gradually been migrating clients to the new hosting company. Once migrated I cannot send email to them unless I use an email address other then one using my domain name. I am beginning to think the old host has some sort of setting which is telling my domain to look on the local server for these particular email accounts. It does not know they have moved to a new server, thus all mail I send to clients on the new server bounces back to me as undeliverable.
This should work, because the ISP knows you're on it's network.
If the mail to your clients goes through, then you have absolved your new host, pretty much, and the blame still lies with the old one.
Now that I am sure the problem lies with my old host, any ideas on what could possible be causing my old host to block email I send to sites on the new server? If I updated the DNS, MX records, etc., would could possibly be left behind that will cause the old host to bounce my email?
