Recommend a double-click-to-edit FTP client?

Need to edit and save files without downloading/uploading

On my Mac I use FTP software called Transmit, which lets me double-click a file to edit it, and when I'm done I just close it to save it back to the server. Yeah, behind the scenes Transmit is really downloading a copy to the hard disk somewhere, but that's seamless and I never see it. My experience feels like I'm editing directly on the server.

Do any of the FTP clients for Windows have that ability? I've looked around but couldn't find any.

Seems to me that Filezilla does this (right click on the remote file and choose view/edit and save the file when you're done) -- though I recall not having been able to get it to work with editors other than Notepad, but it's been quite a while since I tried...

(bump) Hello?

You know the site was down for several days, right? ;-)

Yeah, I knew the site was down, but no one was replying even before it was down.

I tried out Filezilla and geez it's cumbersome. Can't double-click to edit (forced to right-click instead), and it insists on beeping at me and throwing up a dialog box to ask me if I want to upload the file I just edited. (Well why WOULDN'T I? That's the WHOLE POINT of trying to edit a file on the server!)

If this is the best that Windows can do then I'm glad my main production machine is a Mac.

There is a setting in the Options under

Remote file list
where you can change the default "File doubleclick" feature.
